It all began in 2008 with surgery to remove my gallbladder. My body decided it would start shutting down, and had I not made some serious changes to my life and lifestyle, I truly believe there would have been more where that came from.
I was a hard-driving type A with big dreams and well on my way, "successful", climbing the ladder. On the outside, it would appear I had it all together...three academic degrees, a big house, a BMW and smiley Christmas cards. In reality, I was working 60 hour weeks, not eating or sleeping well, raising a child, struggling in my marriage, estranged from my family going on 8 years. I pushed down my emotions, needs, and desires. I was numb. I lived from, and made a number of decisions out of fear and what others and society expected. I avoided listening to my inner voice, and my body had enough...as it should.
Since then, I've been tackling my body, mind, and spirit challenges. Love, parenting, family trauma, guilt, fear, shame, anxiety, depression, co-dependence, and self-forgiveness, just to name a few. I've been tweaking my diet with small changes that have stuck, learning to be present, practicing tapping to release stored emotions, and maintaining balance with yoga. Even through really high points, and low points too, I feel better than I've ever felt.
